MDD Yankee is MLI’s new Canine Ambassador!
After six years of dedicated work sniffing out landmines in Sri Lanka, MDD Yankee retired at the end of April, 2017 and was brought back to the United States by MLI to become our new Canine Ambassador! Throughout her working years, this magnificent canine searched 62,680 square meters of heavily mine-infested land in war-affected northern Sri Lanka. She was an incredible asset both to her handler and the Sri Lankan Army’s Humanitarian Demining Unit. Today she lives with MLI’s CHAMPS team, and will help to spread awareness of the landmine issue by traveling throughout the U.S. and meeting with youth, teachers, and others who are interested in learning more about the impact of lifesaving dogs such as Yankee.
If you’re interested in having MDD Yankee visit your school so you can learn more about CHAMPS, send us a message or call 703-243-9200. We are currently scheduling school visits for the Fall of 2017, so contact us today to sign your school up for a visit!
