Divots “Fore” Hope Golf Event

The Marshall Legacy Institute (MLI)  co-hosted the second annual charity golf tournament with the Mines Advisory Group of America (MAGA) entitled Divots Fore Hope at the 1757 Golf Club in Sterling, VA on May 21, 2018.

The goal of this charitable event is to raise funds to help make the world a better and safer place for children to play, people to work and communities to grow without the fear of landmines. All of the proceeds from this event will be used to support humanitarian efforts to clear landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO); raise awareness among affected populations; and/or destroy small arms and light weapons that jeopardize stability and hamper social and economic development.

Both MAGA and MLI work to save lives in conflict-affected communities around the world by clearing landmines, unexploded ordnance and other remnants of conflict that: (1) threaten peoples’ lives and safety; (2) restrict access to essential needs such as water, shelter and food; and (3) inhibit emergency social services, agriculture, and trade. Both organizations also support awareness and education programs that provide life-saving information for those immediately at risk. This work allows children to walk to school, refugees to return home and people to simply live in safety, without fear.
